Community care services in Eskilstuna shall provide the elderly and people with functional impairment with the support they need to lead as normal lives as possible. Care of the elderly mainly includes activities such as support in the home, daytime activities and special housing. Care of people with functional impairment largely includes special needs housing, personal assistance, provision of a social environment and occupation, and home support for people with physical and mental disabilities.
People in Eskilstuna can turn to the municipality for advice, support and help in difficult situations. This could relate to for example the social situation of children and youth, family relations, abuse problems or the need for temporary financial support. The support that is offered is largely regulated by the Social Services Act.
The municipality has the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that everyone who lives permanently or temporarily in Eskilstuna has their basic needs for support and social welfare.
